Hi everyone!
I’ve been in agility coming up to 25 years and enjoyed every minute of it. The best part is being a life member of the most awesome little club in New Zealand, Central Hawkes Bay! I’m a bit different in that I no longer run a dog but do enjoy judging and setting courses which hopefully sit at the level they are targeted at.
Outside of agility I work on an orchard as a Site Administrator, I also do some pruning and at harvest I supervise a gang of 16 Samoans which is like having 16 kids! We have a lot of fun together which makes my job easier, most days! Outside of work, my partner, Chris, and I live on a small lifestyle block with our two dogs Fez and Smallest and several other four-legged stomachs! We both enjoy fishing and regularly make trips to Slipper Island in the Coromandel to target the big snapper. I have also this year bagged my first deer. This has always been on my bucket list along with a 20lb snapper, marlin, swordfish, 15kg kingi, so still lots to look forward to!
I have seen agility grow so much in the last 25 years and my hopes for the sport in the future are that we continue to compete solely because we enjoy doing so, have the dogs’ safety first in our minds at all times and also have the confidence that when we have concerns or ideas that they will be listened to without judgement.
Good luck to you all competing, I hope you enjoy my courses and the NZDAC 2017 creates great memories for you!
Paul Taylor
I am honoured to judge at the 2017 NZDAC, and would like to express my thanks to the organising committee for the opportunity.
My time in agility has seen our premier event move from NDOA to NDTA, to NZDAC. And the 2017 event will see the further innovation of different judges for the various heights of each class. I see this as a clear indication of the increase in popularity in our sport of Agility.
I continue to be impressed by the variations and advancements of handling skills used by competitors, and I will be aiming to provide courses where people can utilise and display these skills.
Good luck to everyone competing this year.
