Zone 1 Patsy & Raz My name is Patsy Aldridge and my wee mate is Raz-Ma-Taz (Raz). We, along with my partner Wally, and my other dogs, live on a lifestyle block in Patumahoe which is just outside Pukekohe. I work full time at Middlemore Hospital with the Plastic and Hand Surgeons, and then start work again when I arrive home. I have been involved with agility for some years, not I might add with a lot of success. Each dog I have had has taught me a lot about myself and handling in the ring. My instructors over the years have been most patient with me, and have probably had a laugh at my expense (I would probably laugh at me too if I was in their shoes). I can only say thank you very much to them for their time and patience. Raz came to me from a Dairy Farm in Ngatea. Well Raz loves life, he is full of energy. The main thing is that he loves to go “JUMPING” as we call agility at home. He will run for just about anyone. I’m sure he did it deliberately, but he embarrassed my girlfriend dreadfully one day when she was running him. Ask Marilyn Lambert about her little episode with Raz. His other passion is playing Bally Bally with his mate Kata. He can sprint around after Kata with a ball in his mouth, and barking at the same time. A real comedy act. Janetta & Jess Not that long ago we knew nothing about agility before joining the Auckland Canine Agility Club for fun and recreation. We have loved every moment of our training experience and people that this club brings together. Our life was quiet until 2 years ago, when the family made a commitment to compete, so we hit the road on our Agility journey, doing full weekend events. Jessie was very slow, but accurate before she discovered the adrenaline rush and the bark, then the fun started along with dropped bars... Although she does not break speed records, she is really excited and enjoys ripping into obstacles. Jessie is gentle, docile and affectionate 5 years old petite Border Collie, a perfect city family pet, who also does Rally-O and Obedience, though like me prefers agility. I could not have asked for a better dog, what do they say “Great dog, shame about the handler”. We live in central Auckland with our support crew: my husband John and another dog Misha. Our backyard is small, but full of DIY jumps and tunnels. Page 38
