Richard Powley and Mello Hi, I’m Richard and this is Mello, she is a 7 year old, red and fawn Australian Kelpie. This is the first time I have trialled Mello for the Zone 5 team since she was 2 years old, back then she wasn’t emotionally ready. After 5 years of intensive therapy she has grown and although she is still afraid of the sheep and lives mainly under the couch, she has decided her new best friend Fitz and Agility are her favourite things and in the last couple of months she has achieved a lot. Mello and I are honoured to be part of this Zone 5 team. Good luck to everyone competing in the team event. Go Zone 5!!! Bronwyn Smail & Inch Hi I am Bronwyn. Inch and I are super excited to be representing Zone 5 this year as senior dog team. This is the first time that either of us have been representatives in a zone team. I am a relative newcomer to agility, only competing for the last 7 years, belonging to the great Taieri Canine Training club. Inch is my third agility dog. She lives on a farm with four other dogs and they all have a very charmed farm life with plenty of space and rabbits to chase. I first started training with a black Labrador named Denver. Denver never made any land speed records but taught me a lot about agility. I then rehomed the sweetest black 8 month old collie cross pup “Zeta”. Zeta turned into the craziest screaming agility dog that you would ever know. She still competes and loves agility. I also have an 11 month old tricoloured collie pup who will be introduced to agility next year. Inch is a nearly four year old kelpie huntaway cross from a farm in Balcultha. She lives up to her name in every way, “If you give her an inch she will take a mile” and has a very loud bark. She has not been the easiest dog to train however we have finally clicked as a team. Inch has hit her straps in the last few months and is proving to be a very reliable and consistent agility dog. Her biggest achievement so far is winning the Maxi Dog Novice final at Rakaia in 2016 I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me with my training and teaching me and my dogs new skills.
